Soldi, fama e successo senza sacrificio! Beh forse accade in un altro pianeta, ma non certamente sulla Terra! C’è chi è baciato dalla fortuna, chi nasce in una famiglia agiata, chi può permettersi addirittura di non lavorare. Ma il successo e i risultati arrivano solo con tanto sacrificio. Anche il calcio non fa eccezione a questa regola. E se ci pensi bene anche il calciatore di successo, che poi diventa allenatore di successo, sarà partito da zero almeno una volta nella vita. Pensa invece ad un allenatore che non è mai stato un calciatore di successo. Che ha iniziato ad allenare la sera nei campi polverosi della Seconda Categoria e, gradino dopo gradino, è arrivato in serie A, quasi alla vittoria di uno scudetto. Poi l’approdo in Premier League, il campionato più importante al mondo, fino ad arrivare a vincere l’Europa League. Sto parlando ovviamente di Maurizio Sarri, un predestinato.
Sì uso volutamente la parola predestinato perché, nonostante esoneri e tante difficoltà che ha dovuto superare in carriera, Maurizio Sarri scelse quasi vent’anni fa di rinunciare ad un lavoro sicuro e ben retribuito in banca, per intraprendere la carriera di allenatore tra i professionisti. La sua grande passione di vita.
Se non avesse avuto talento, fame e voglia di arrivare, sarebbe probabilmente tornato nell’anonimato e forse al suo vecchio mestiere. Invece no! Mister Sarri ha fatto centro alla guida del Chelsea, dopo la brillante parentesi in Italia nel Napoli. Ma l’inizio della sua carriera è stato decisamente in salita. Nella sua decisiva esperienza di Empoli, quella che gli ha permesso di fare il definitivo salto in serie A, fu scelto dal direttore sportivo Marcello Carli alla vigilia del campionato 2012/2013, tra lo scetticismo generale. L’inizio non fu sicuramente entusiasmante, complici i numerosi infortuni della rosa azzurra. Ci vollero ben dieci turni di campionato per ottenere la prima vittoria sul terreno di Lanciano, con l’ombra di un esonero in arrivo.
Da lì, praticamente, solo gioie. Una promozione entusiasmante in serie A con l’Empoli, la salvezza ottenuta poi l’anno successivo e l’approdo al Napoli. Due stagioni di grandi risultati e la soddisfazione di aver tenuto testa alla Juventus nella lotta per lo scudetto. E il cerchio si è ovviamente chiuso (in attesa di nuovi capitoli da aggiungere nel libro “sarriano”…) con l’approdo al Chelsea di Abramovich dove Sarri ha conquistato al primo colpo l’Europa League.
Finalmente il toscanaccio Maurizio Sarri è diventato un manager a tutti gli effetti, proprio come ai tempi in cui lavorava in Banca, ma con una differenza sostanziale: ora il manager che ama il ciclismo e fuma due pacchetti di sigaretta al giorno è entrato di diritto nella storia del calcio europeo. Dalla porta principale ovviamente!
